CBD and Sex

CBD & Sex

I’m normally not into the “Hallmark” vibes of Valentine’s Day. However, in recent years, I’ve begun to use it as an excuse to get hot and heavy in February. I mean, we’re all home anyway and it’s freezing outside - may as well heat things up in the bedroom (or the kitchen...or the office…).

All of the sudden CBD sex products are everywhere - lube, oils, vapes, bath products, chocolates - oh my! I guess I never associated CBD with sex before. I definitely associate marijuana (with THC) with sex (well, certain strains). So, what’s the deal with all the CBD and sex talk? I decided to find out.

You don’t usually feel in the mood for sex if you are anxious or tense. CBD can help enhance one of our neurotransmitters called anandamide, which is “our bliss neurotransmitter, and associated with oxytocin [known as the ‘cuddle hormone,’” says Healthline. So, it makes sense that CBD gets us into that “brown chicken, brown cow” vibe. Plus, CBD in topical form may help with pain -- in this case, it might benefit those who experience painful sex. According to Foria Wellness, “used topically, CBD promotes increased blood flow – a vital part of arousal and sexual pleasure.” Foria’s Awaken Arousal Oil with CBD does just that! It’s an amazing product, and super fun to have in the nightstand. It smells (and tastes) delicious and has botanicals that are known aphrodisiacs. I will tell you from experience, this stuff works! You can go from zero to the finish line in no time with your partner or alone. It’s used topically and totally edible (yum). Plus, it can double as lube (bonus points).

Chocolate always gets me in the mood (or am I always in the mood for chocolate?), so trying Calivolve’s Arouse Dark Chocolate Truffles wasn't exactly a burden. There have been edible aphrodisiacs for centuries; they’ve probably been around so long for a reason. These truffles contain damiana, which is an ancient aphrodisiac said to heighten sexual arousal and stamina to those who imbibe. Cocoa itself is also an aphrodisiac that’s been around for quite a bit. According to The New York Times, “the emperor Montezuma was said to consume the bean in copious amounts to fuel his romantic trysts.” Sprinkle in some CBD and you could be in for one arousing journey. These truffles taste delicious and after about 15-30 minutes, they definitely will have you in the mood for love (or lust).

Many people take CBD to help to relax, it’s no wonder that it’s become a staple in the bedroom. Whether you’re into oils or chocolate (or both), it seems like you have various options when it comes to CBD and sex.
